Chapter 9
They
returned to the forest in the park. They were relieved to be back and
happy that Rachel had finally woke up that morning [ although she was
still very sick and hurt].
They looked around and their relief and
happiness vanished. The cottage had been burnt down. They walked out
of the forest with their trainers behind them.
As they did they saw three
leaves that were blown into the air by wind didn't move but stayed
suspended mid-air. There were people on the walking trail stuck and
not moving. It looked like they were jogging.
They reached the play
ground and kids were frozen on the slide and the swings.
Time didn't unfreeze. Said
Patron. What's going on?
Guylest distracted me.
Said Rosen. When we were rescuing Rachel and I let down my guard and
he was able to destroy everything.
She was right. Once they had gotten to their
neighborhood, all the houses had something missing. For some their
roves were missing and some windows and doors. But no one was hurt or
killed. I am sorry. Said Rosen. I never
meant for this to happen.
It's not your fault Replied
Jayson. It was Guylest and his army.
Let's just get into a
house. Said Rachel. She was still weak and needed help walking.
Patron supported her. We can use my house.
They walked to Rachel's house.
It still had a roof but the windows and doors were missing.
There's plenty of food in
the fridge and we have a fire place in case it get's cold.
Patron then helped on the
couch and moved it to the window so she could see what was going on
as the rest of them looked around for anyone who might not have
remained frozen. Rachel
looked at the drive-way and saw her parent’s cars with them in
them.
She let out a small sigh
and wished things were still normal.
The others then returned with the
news that they were the only ones not frozen in time and that they
had no idea how to fix it.
The sky was stuck in a beautiful sunset and
they were the only ones who could admire it's beauty.
Jayson sat down next to
Rachel. His hands rubbing his head.
What's wrong? Asked
Rachel.
I
just have a head ache. He answered. Nothing to be worried about. So
how are you feeling?
Like I’ve just been shot
in the stomach. She replied. But I’ll get over it.
So what happened after you
had been kidnapped? He asked
Nothing much. She said. I was
just placed into a dungeon, barely aware of what was happening.
Oh. Said Jayson.
They then just sat in silence, looking out the window.
Rosen then prepared lunch and Jayson helped Rachel to
the dinning room.
They ate their sandwiches
and then discussed what they were going to do.
We could go back to
Tanlon. Suggested Patron. Maybe there we could figure something out.
We can't. Said Rocktin. I
tried to see earlier but Guylest has stopped all transportation here.
We're stuck.
Jayson then let out a small
moan and held his head.
Are you okay? Asked
Thomas. You look sick.
I'm fine. He
replied. I just have a head ache.
Do you want me to see if I help? Asked Patron.
No. He answered. It'll pass soon.
Well we're going out later for building
supplies to fix the door and the windows. Said Rosen. Would you like
to stay here with Rachel?
Jayson nodded.
Alright then. Said Rosen. We should go
now.
At they got up to leave.
Rachel and Jayson
stayed at the table and then helped each other back to the couch
which was still by the window.
Jayson's head ache didn't
go away but got worse.
Are you going to be
okay? Asked Rachel. Maybe you should let Thomas or Patron help.
No. He replied. I don't
want to get them even more worried then they already are.
He looked up at his friend
and her eyes were wide. Her mouth slightly open.
What is it? He asked.
You are
levitating the table. She answered.
He turned around and the table was indeed in the air.
Are you sure
it's me and not you. He asked. You could be enchanting it.
I already searched for
were it was coming from and a strong magic is rating from you to the
table. Same type of magic. She answered.
Two questions. Said Jayson. One how do you know how
to do that and two what does this mean?
One Rosen taught me, it's
a skill only an enchantress has and two this means you have
telekinetic powers. She said this still staring at the table. We have
to tell the others when they come home. But for now just try to relax
and put the table down.
It
took him twenty minuets to set it down.
Good. Said Rachel. I think I might know why you're having
head aches now.
Yeah it's kind of clear
now. Replied Jayson.
After
another ten minuets the others returned with lumber, tools, glass
panes, paint, paint brushes, a new door, hinges, and a sack of nails
and screws.
I have a problem. Said
Jayson as they walked in. I can move things with my mind. He almost
blurted this out.
What??? Asked all of the
people who went to the store.
Jayson explained what
happened while they were gone.
That would explain
the head aches. Said Patron. But you shouldn't have this ability yet.
What do you mean yet?
Asked Rachel.
He shouldn't
have this power until he's an adult. Answered Rosen. That's when
Tukon got his.
I don't understand.
I
know how to fix everything. Said Rocktin. When I tested to see if we
could telaport I discovered a force field spell. This spell can
contain magic so we can't do anything that let us leave the force
field. But were it contains our magic it also is the source of the
spell he's got on everyone and everything.
I don't understand. Said
Jayson.
You
can break it. He answered. You can put enough force on it.
But we can't use
magic to get out. Said Jayson.
This
magic is a different kind of magic. Answered Rosen. Normal magic
comes from the heart and the mind. This magic only comes from the
mind.
But he
doesn't know how to control it. Said Rachel. He didn't mean to do it
last time.
That's why I’m here.
Said Rocktin. I know how to help him. Tukon told me how he did it.
At this him and Jayson
walked out side to practice.
Just picture
what you're trying to move or break. Instructed Rocktin. The force
field is clear and is occasionally clear with a purple stripe. Now
close your eyes and imagine what I just told you exploding.
Jayson tried and tried and tried but had no luck. By the time he told
Rocktin to go inside his head ache felt like a mallet had hit his
head and was continuing to do so.
It had been hours since he was
inside.
They had fixed Rachel's
house and planned on fixing the others the next day.
Rachel came outside with
Jayson. She now had a smooth piece of left over wood to help support
her.
Around her shoulders was a
blanket and in her left arm was one for Jayson.
You've been out here for
eight hours now. She said as she placed the blanket around Jayson's
shoulders. You should come in and sleep. You can try again in the
morning.
He wanted to argue but he was to tired. So he followed her back
into the house.
He laid down on the floor
and fell asleep.
He woke up early
that morning, before anyone else. His mind was now clear and went to
try again.
He just stood there for
awhile trying. He tried for twenty-eight minuets and then he created
a small hole in the force field that held them captive.
Within the hour that small hole had almost
eaten up the rest of the prison.
I did it! He shouted at
the top of his lungs, awakening everyone.
Everyone came to see. But
they rushed inside quickly because the time and the people began to
unfreeze.
Rosen froze them again and then she
rebuilt the house were the broken and fallen parts lied and got more
supplies [which they left money for] and they all rebuilt the rest of
the homes. They spent one
more night there.
In the morning they went to the park, rebuilt the cottage, but they
decided not to unfreeze time just yet.
Now we just have to beat Guylest and his army of darklings. Said
Thomas. Are we ready to go?
I am. Said Rachel. She was
better now and no longer required help standing or walking. The only
pain left was a couple pulled bones.
They then huddled into a circle and left for
Tanlon. To be continued....
